The surf coast of Bribie Island - Woorim Beach - is 30 km long and stretches in a
roughly North-South direction from Skirmish Point to the northern tip which is only
a few hundred metres from the Sunshine Coast city of Caloundra. The warm waters of
Moreton Bay and wide white-sand beaches make this destination a paradise on earth.
A safe swimming portion of the beach is patrolled by the Bribie Island Surf Living
Saving Club.
Woorim Beach is the closest surf Beach to Brisbane and is situated on the Eastern
side of Bribie Island.
Because the Island is protected on the south-eastern side by Moreton Island the surf
at Woorim Beach is favourable to families and young children.
Woorim has a permanent population of about 3,000. It’s main industry is tourism and
tourist are catered for with coffee shops, all various accommodation types, general
businesses, hotel, clubs and restaurants.
There is also a caravan park catering for permanent and casual guests.
Woorim Beach is also the access point for people wishing to take advantage of the
‘on the beach’ camping facilities.
